
EUROPEAN NETWORK OF QUITLINES WINS WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION AWARD
Steve Crone, Chief Executive of QUIT, was presented with a World Health Organisation Award by Minister for Health Caroline Flint for pioneering work in Europe. Steve accepted the Award on behalf of the European Network of Quitlines of which QUIT is the lead agency. The ENQ is funded by the European Commission.

The WHO awards are given out annually to health professionals and organisations who have made a significant contribution to the anti-tobacco movement. The awards are given to people who go beyond the boundaries of their jobs to make a difference in tobacco control. The European Network of Quitline (ENQ) is an initiative aimed at maximising collaberation between all European Union member countries in tobacco control and smoking cessation. The ENQ was formally launched in September 2001 at a conference in Barcelona, Spain. The Network is a European Union funded initiative, in association with the European Network of Smoking Prevention. The Network currently has 27 members.
