QUIT APPEAL TO WOMEN’S VANITY AHEAD OF NO SMOKING DAY 2008

QUIT, the charity that helps people stop smoking, are appealing to women of all ages to make No Smoking Day on 12th March their date to quit – for the sake of their looks.

Most women know smoking can cause lung cancer, heart disease and premature death but may not be aware it can also age a woman by ten years or more.  Smoking can have a dramatic effect on a woman’s appearance, causing baldness, premature grey hair, facial wrinkles and yellow teeth and fingers.

But there is some good news - just one month after quitting smoking and a woman’s face will start to lose its greyish colour, skin will become brighter and appear less wrinkled.

Women who are concerned about the effects of smoking on their appearance and health can call the Quitline 0800 002200 for a free copy of the QUIT Guide to Women and Smoking, or download it from www.quit.org.uk
