Corporate Health
Under the Health Act 2006, England will become smoke-free. The medical and scientific evidence of the risks to health from exposure to secondhand smoke is well established and smoking is recognised to be the greatest single cause of preventable illness and premature death in the UK, killing around 106,000 people every year.

QUIT provides smoking cessation courses, community based stop smoking events and workshops for employers seeking to better understand the impact of smoke free legislation and to improve the health of their workforce.

Community Based Stop Smoking Event

A flexible, awareness-raising stop smoking community based event.  QUIT’s fully trained stop smoking counsellors are available to attend a venue of the employer’s choice to provide stop smoking advice and information to any employee. QUIT’s counselling team provide practical advice and assist smokers to identify solutions to any challenges preventing a quit attempt. Information leaflets and QUIT resources are provided to all employees during the event and the QUIT counsellors signpost any smoker to the local stop smoking services or to the Quitline.

Stop Smoking Groups

QUIT’s fully trained stop smoking counsellors provide stop smoking groups that can be held within the workplace. The groups run for a period of 6 weeks and normally last approx. one hour. The groups provide the ultimate tools of support for employees who want to quit within a structured and shared setting. QUIT counsellors advise on and prescribe appropriate stop smoking treatments (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) while guiding motivated employees through a series of counselling sessions in a friendly and relaxed group setting.

 Pro-active Telephone Counselling Sessions/Email Counselling

If an employee does not want to quit within a stop smoking group environment, an alternative option would be to receive pro-active telephone or email counselling. Any smoker can contact the Quitline to receive one off stop smoking advice and support, but QUIT counsellors offer up to 3 hours of dedicated telephone and/or email counselling support to smokers within the workplace who want to stop smoking.
The counselling provided is tailor made to the individual smoker and is carried out at pre-agreed times over a 6 week period.

Training for employers

This one day workshop will outline the need for and enable you to design and implement effective smoking policies for your workplace. It will help you decide what type of policy will be most suitable for your organisation, look at practical solutions, timeframes and understand who should be involved in the implementation of the policy.  The course is suitable for employees who are involved in policy decision making, implementation and enforcement.
